Yarn?

*blushes*

Hi.

So, um, still knitting. Didn't buy yarn all month. (I know, OMG) So I'm buying myself a laptop. Perhaps a camera.

And then I'll post more here. And I'll put up pictures on Ravelry. And various other things that I've not been doing.

I need to knit my brother a Dalek, it was mutually decided.

It's only 3:41?

*sigh*

I've been really neglecting this blog. Which is a shame, because it's not like I don't have the time...

And I've actually DONE things.

Yes. There's a finished BSJ, witch matching booties and hat.

There's 5 (6? 7?) socks.

There's spinning. Miles of spinning. And carding, and dying and and and...

When I get home tonight, I will put batteries in my camera, and I will take pictures and I will post them.

And then I will fire up Photoshop, and I will make a label for my yarns so I can finally bring them into the store (and then get more base yarns and dye more yarn. It's a sick, sick cycle you get into.)

Or I may watch those last six episodes of the West Wing and work on the new BSJ.

Because I do have to go to Target first, and return those pants that fit my fine in the store but I could take off without unbuttoning by the end of the day. And the thought of returning clothes because they were (eventually) too big makes me want a cheeseburger.

New Toys

I ordered a drum carder for myself. Because, ah... Oh, why must there be a reason for everything? I wanted one.

And target delivery is tomorrow. Whee!

I also got all self indulgent and ordered myself superwash wool and shetland and sparkles and nylon and tencel and mohair and and and...

There will be all sorts of packages coming to me in the next week and I won't be home to collect them before anyone else notices. Eep.

I has killeded AOL.

Computer woes. I have been taking lots of pictures and I have finished things and baked and sewed, but the AOL on my computer at home says it needs to be re-installed, and yet I can not find an AOL disk anywhere. Woe.

I will be back when I sort this out. Or in April when I buy myself a laptop. Whichever comes first. Probably April will.

I've taken up spinning, because I'm a weak, weak person who just really needed saomething else to dye.
And the boss lady ordered wheel. Er, two wheels. A Louet S75 and a Victoria. And fiber. This place is so incredibly indulgent. The Victoria was back ordered, but I'm very excited for the S75 to arrive, as I've got about 5 lbs of fiber waiting to be spun. Hand dyed merino and black merino and natural shetland and BFL and cotton/silk the color of my great grandmother's hydrangea bush and why did I have to break my $@&! spindle?

I've updated my project list. I may even have finished a few things.

UFOs:
Kyli's little heart sweater -Needs buttons sewn on. And then I have to make another one for the shop.
Tubey -Still I'm still on the first sleeve, still.
Jasmine Sweater from Natural Knits for mom's friend-Ripped down to the start of the arm holes. I've got um, two whole days to finish!
Royal Bamboo Scarf-Is, through no fault of my own, missplaced.
Silk Garden Seed Stitch Scarf(s)- For the other waitresses. Five (5!) done, one to go.
Aelf from Rowan 40-A shop sample. Done with the body, and on the lace, but it's just coming out all wrong. This is my fault I'm sure, which makes it even more frustrating.
hats for the guys- because none of them have enough hair to keep them warm.

In the wings:
Chunky Alpaca sweater-Because I'm already freezing at night, I doubt the Alpaca will be too warm for me. I've got heathered red Misti Alpaca for this.
Gina's Bolero (and hat. And belt. And lacey tank. And Ipod cozy.)-And she's coming home for thanksgiving. (It's not that she's demanding, it's that most of these are actually finished but went missing. The tank and Bolero are all I have left to do)
Kitty Pi bed-In Ultra Alpaca, with ArtfulYarns Galaxy as the border. Because those are the yarns Shadow selected.
Blossom Scarf-I'm on a scarf kick, what can I say?
Hats and/or scarves for Joe and his family-I thought it would be nice for christmas to make something for the best record store owner ever, for putting up with my special orders all year.

Actually finished:
Blossom Scarf
5 of 6 Silk Garden Scarves (+1 for me)
D's baby socks
1 of 6 LP Bulky hats

Today...

I love it when husbands come into the store alone. My favorite is when they're after wife presents.
One came in today and walked around with this great bewildered expression. His wife usually uses Wallmart yarns, and he wanted to get her something nice. He went with some Ultra Alpaca in a dark green that his 3-year-old agreed mommy would like. It was very sweet.

Today I brought home some Regia to make baby socks for Della's baby (who will finally be here next week!). So I thought, maybe I should sort out how many UFOs I have, and how many projects I have waiting after them.
It's a little embarrasing.

UFOs:
Kyli's little heart sweater -Needs buttons. Can't find right buttons.
Tubey -I'm on the first sleeve, still. I'm using Merino Cable, and I had no idea it bloomed so much when washed. Of course, I didn't think to wash my swatch until I was past the stripes on the second sleeve. So I ripped and I'm making the next smaller side on 6's now, as oppossed to my size on 9s.
Jasmine Sweater from Natural Knits for mom's friend-This pattern is evil. I did all the decreases right, and came out with the wrong number of stitches on both fronts peices.
Courtney's baby blanket-In Cotton Tots, which I'm not sure is going to hold up well. I bought a really cute Corduroy jacket for her, so this may not get finished.
Royal Bamboo Scarf-Actually, I'm really loving this, but it's got twisted stitches so I have to watch it while I work on the RS rows, so it's going slow. I think I did 6" today, though.
Silk Garden Seed Stitch Scarf- My mindless knitting project. I love how this yarn looks so much that I don't want to do much to distract from it, but plain stockinette would drive me insane.
Opal socks from Spring 06 interweave-I can't recall what they're actually called. I'm making them from some Opal that I hand dyed, in dark magenta and emerald with spots of bright green and pink. The lacey bits really show against my already winter-pale ankles.
Aelf from Rowan 40-A shop sample. Done with the body, and on the lace, but it's just coming out all wrong. This is my fault I'm sure, which makes it even more frustrating.

In the wings:
D's baby socks-Though I'm going to get cracking on these tonight
Hats for the guys/scarves for the girls at work #1. I have Lamb's Pride Superwash Chunky in black for the hats, but no idea what to use for the scarves. I think I'll have to make 9? Cheri will get Recycled silk, but I'm open to yarn recomendations for the others. Maybe some Noro...
Chunky Alpaca sweater-Because I'm already freezing at night, I doubt the Alpaca will be too warm for me. I've got heathered red Misti Alpaca for this.
Christmas stocking for the shop-apparently.
Mittens for Laurie's friend-these will get high priority, since I'm being paid to make them. Just waiting for fiber confirmation.
Mom's Royal Bamboo Scarf-as soon as I find a stitch I love for the color.

And I'm sure there's others. I have about 30 sock patterns that I can't wait to make.

Also, Magpie came in today with a spindle. So now I want to learn how to spin yarn, because she made it look so much easier that the online tutorials do. IT's so nice to be able to see some actually spinning yarn. Plus, in January there will be a fiber festival in Destin. Yee!

I'm impressed with myself

D's baby blanket is almost done. The hat and booties set is done. The sweater is... well, it's started.

But D's shower isn't until the 23 of this month. The baby's not due till the 23 of November.

I'm actually going to have a whole set of baby gifts done before the baby gets here!

(Of course, C's baby is due the week before D's, and I haven't started anything for her yet. Small steps.)
